Cardiac and vascular spaces tend to carry a certain weight, clinical, cold, built around equipment rather than the people moving through them. Simour’s brief for this practice was to do the opposite: to create a space where serious, advanced medicine could feel calm, reassuring, and warm from the moment a patient walks through the door.
That intention became a design concept the team called Modern Malibu. Grounded in natural textures of wood, stone, and quartz and a calm palette of white and grey warmed by wood tones and soft accents, the design was built on a single idea that the environment itself is part of the care. The warm materials were chosen to soften the clinical edges, while contrasting textures keep the space feeling modern and alive rather than sterile.
Every decision was made with the patient experience in mind. Two-tone flooring gently guides people through the space, making a complex medical environment intuitive to navigate. Restrooms and patient-change areas were treated with the same intention as the public rooms finished with a quiet dignity that tells patients they matter. Light, clarity, and calm were carried throughout to ease the anxiety that so often accompanies a visit like this.
The result reflects Simour’s core belief: that good design heals. By pairing the precision a cardiac practice demands with genuine warmth, the space becomes one of reassurance rather than apprehension, usable, calming, and human at every step.
