UCLA Health is one of the most trusted names in medicine, and the vision for its Westfield Century City location was to make that trust tangible the moment someone walked in. Set inside a bustling shopping center, the clinic needed to feel unmistakably UCLA open, modern, and reassuring while bringing world-class care into the rhythm of everyday life. Simour’s role was to translate that established brand into a physical space.
The design started with the brand itself. Drawing on UCLA Health’s signature blue and gold, the concept used color intentionally selected through color psychology to communicate trust, optimism, and dependability within a fresh, mid-century modern palette of warm woods, clean whites, and bright accents. The result reads as light and chic rather than clinical: a healing space that signals its brand the instant you step inside.
Every decision served clarity and ease. The reception was designed as the key piece, drawing people in and orienting them immediately, while open sightlines, natural light, and intuitive wayfinding made a sometimes-confusing healthcare visit feel simple and calm. Clean counters, generous storage, and soundproofed exam rooms kept the experience polished and private, and the storefront itself was designed to feel transparent and inviting from the concourse.
The impact is a clinic that makes a major health system feel personal and approachable recognizable, welcoming, and easy to trust. By starting from UCLA Health’s brand and giving it a fresh, timeless form, Simour created a space that meets patients where they are and reflects the quality of care within proof that even the largest institutions feel most human when their space is designed around the people moving through it.
